Ingleborough hill-fort is an iron - age fortification constructed by the British north-western tribe, the Brigantes. It is very probable that it was built during the first century AD, when the area was under attack from the Romans who were determined to subject the area to their rule.
The fort is situated on the summit of Ingleborough: a flat plateau, having an area of about 15 acres, 2,350 ft above sea level.
